Thanks to the Texas Black Hereford Association and the juniors who participated in the shows below. Black Herefords received a big boost as five of the Texas juniors exhibited Black Hereford heifers at the 2011 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. These five juniors also exhibited their heifers at the following Texas shows: Temple, Groesbeck and Corsicana. All pictures were taken in Houston.

A very special thanks to Perry Calvin, Frost, Texas, for hauling the heifers to the four shows and for his advice on fitting the animals. It was a huge undertaking, but the exhibitors performed their fitting and showing duties like professionals. Along with these five juniors, Perry Calvin, Bobby Lide and the juniors’ parents received a lot of attention with their Black Herefords. One of the adults in attendance at the Houston Junior Show made the comment that he had made up his mind to never buy a Black Hereford, but had a change of heart once he saw how good the cattle were and how the exhibitors handled and showed their animals.
